Is there a massive difference between the Mexican and Argentinian ascents? If there is not,then Argentine(and Chile too but I didn't listen to them that much) has a GREAT prog- and art-rock scene. Personal recommendation: La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros self-titled.

John Fahey is the greatest guitarist, composer and musician to ever grace the earth with few that could really compare to him.

If youve heard his albums, what are your favorite pieces or moments? If you havent heres some recommendations.

Volume 2: Death Chants, Breakdowns & Military Waltzes (1967) - Definitely one of the most accessible albums with pretty universally beloved pieces like Sunflower River Blues and When the Springtime Comes Again

America (1971) - Has some longer pieces and quite a few shorter but still magnificent compositions in the bonus content. The Voice of the Turtle is the most notable here.

Fare Forward Voyagers (Soldier's Choice) (1973) - My personal favorite album of his and of all time. Contains three pieces one over ten minutes and one over twenty minutes long; the title track which elevates acoustic guitar from amazing to near divine.

When it comes to acoustic guitar and this very tiny specific field of American Primitivism little can stand up to Fahey but certainly the closest thing ive heard is Robbie Basho's Lost Lagoon Suite - Vancouver, Canada. Basho was something of a musical rival for Fahey but it was more friendly than spiteful, both were extremely faithful and spiritual men. This piece being released in '67 (kek) represents an earlier maturity of Bashos sound. At that time Fahey was still experimenting with a style closer to acoustic blues and he'd really start pushing into the true heights of American Primitive guitar a year or two later. Perhaps giving it more time Fahey was later able to extract even more soul from his playing, truly trumping all competition in '73 with Fare Forward Voyagers. Nevertheless Lost Lagoon Suite paints a vibrant musical landscape, travelling through a forest and meeting its almost magical inhabitants, no word is spoken as these wide and dense woods can only be described through the masterful playing of guitar.

Ive been listening to this song a lot recently. Definitely Faheys greatest live achievement, i would do anything to go back in time and experience it in that setting. There is a real debate whether this or Mark 1:15 are the real final iteration of When the Springtime Comes Again. Id say Mark left a more long lasting impact on me and i think solidifying the biblical connection is a fantastic choice but the Oil Spill one is just a sheer joy to listen to. Its not as long but still complete and fulfilling while capturing the truly essential bits. Masterpiece!

vultures 1 is at best a 5/10.
The fact that the worst part about the entire album is kanye himself just ruining beautifully produced songs (that he made) such as in BACK TO ME shows that he really should've retired after Donda. Also the album has no direction, mediocre tracklist, genuinely terrible songs like PAPERWORK and songs that actively get worse the more you listen to them.
