^it's simple. it's fast. it depends on what you want to use it for; if you don't want all the extra shit that comes with other things and you literally just want a window manager, use dwm. if you want more than just that, modify dwm.

^instead of doing the nigger method we write an actual server/client based display protocol where the server specifies geometry and content to render e.g. basically just specifying things like "this text with this font here" or "draw this n dimensional object here using these vectors". if you want fancy shaders you could extend it by having packages (managed by whatever manager you use) and/or sending shaders server to client and having fallbacks. warn client if no appropriate shader or something. shaders and that and everything else you want could be extensions instead of just already being built in. you could also extend the protocol for things like predicting ahead of time what the server is going to tell the client to render
