Hey chuds, I need some help picking out new headphones for high quality gaming audio.

I currently have some awful 40 dollar GSP 500s I found in an E-waste bin 7 years ago and I am looking to spend ~150 dollars on some better ones.

But if you're going to be using a subwoofer (use 2 identical models, just trust me bro), you should go all the way and use speakers too. $5,000 Headphone soundstage isn't even in the same ballpark as a $500 pair of speakers with good directivity and low distortion with some PEQ applied, and if you're using a subwoofer, privacy goes out the window anyway. Headphones do have a place, though. They're great for detail retrieval if you get ones with very little material in front of the driver.

honestly any over ear name brand headphones would work. and just get a seperate mic.

is gaming on linux worth it in the current year?
7 posts and 1 image reply omitted. Click reply to view.

 β„–24201

no fortnite on linux so it's basically gem

 β„–24214

yeah AAA slop and new releases might work, but what about older games? last time I tried running F.E.A.R. on arch I had to reinstall proton 8 times until I finally found a version that somewhat worked
same thing with indie games, most I tried kept crashing no matter what and I doubt the proton community cares about less popular games, they just laser focus on the most played sludge

 β„–24216

>>24214
for older games you can use rutracker.org and search for linux/wine or linux/native games specifically

 β„–24217

>>24214
>>24216
I had a similar problem with the steam version of Oblivion, i tried many proton versions but all failed to launch. After that i downloaded wine release from rutracker and everything works fine

 β„–24221

It's iron. Yes it can run most games better than Windows, but try to play Rust, GTA 5 online, or any other game that has AC. Most games will use more invasive anti cheats in the future, unless anti cheat problem is solved it will never be the year.

Gem if you have an old shitbox.

Who else has seen this? I spotted this tranny brimstone while browsing the Valve Developer Wiki for information on SteamCMD and on OpenWRT's website for information about routers. Apparently, there's some new company out of Cuckada called Techaro that has started selling an anti-AI scraper tool to organizations like Valve and even UNESCO. Its mascot is some tranime girl and the CEO is some tranny furfag and vtuber who literally goes by Xe as a name and thinks xe looks like her. Xe runs a blog where xey even use fake-schizo alter-egos to represent xerself. Unsurprisingly, Xe also uses Troonsky instead of Xitter because Elon Musk is an evil Chud or something, eve&oe xey are using ChinkTok and Amazon's Twitch anyway. At this rate, Xe will probably be a billionaire with control over the flow of information on the internet someday soon, and will shut down your Steam account if xey find out you've been too Chuddy by labeling you as an AI scraper bot. Thanks to Xe, you will have to look at how Xe thinks Xe looks every time you want to use the internet now.

They're paid (((NSA))) agents thats all. Political de-stabilization is how you can kill something because of you attack one side you're a bad person. Attack the left you're a bigot, attack the right you're woke.

The (((NSA))) put Linux users on a watch list back in 2003 and now that Windows 11 is going all in on le gayi many normies are going to Linux. It's easier to make Linux look lefty because many nerds are typically left leaning.

 β„–24179

>>24178
I think it's less that nerds, in general, are left-leaning and more that the vocal nerds who make themselves known have to constantly virtue signal by literally going, "I'm trans, btw," at every opportunity they get. Even when they manage to accomplish things that are genuinely impressive on their own merit (rare, but it happens), they can't let that speak for itself because being able to change your life and the lives others for the better through hard work and focusing on things you can control completely counters their ideology. Linus Torvalds and Richard Stallman might not be trans themselves but they're an example of this, constantly having to espouse things that make commiepedotroons happy despite achieving genuinely impressive feats in their nonpolitical fields. It's kind of like how even the 1% of trannies that do pass still have to tell you that they're trans because just pulling it off is not enough. You WILL make a conscious effort to validate them.

 β„–24181

>>24179
They're actively hurting themselves by making themselves look entitled. Many platforms started to cater to ever protected group end up promoting mass censorship. In this case Linux, backdoors would eventually be installed to make sure you're not transphobic or anything like that. Which is why I went back to Windows because I'd rather use something that just werks then deal with constant fear of some unstable developers.

It makes it seem like some sort of pysop instead of actually seeking validation.

 β„–24205

>>24181
At least with Linux, you can see if that backdoor ever gets installed and remove it yourself. Plus, there are Linux distros made by Chuddy developers, like Artix.

A good answer depends on the tone you want, but here are a few solid ways to respondβ€”each makes you sound thoughtful without being preachy.

Balanced / conversational

> β€œI think we already are, but mostly in small, low-stakes ways. The real question isn’t whether AI makes decisions, but who’s responsible when its recommendations become the default.”

Slightly skeptical

> β€œWe’re not really outsourcing decisionsβ€”we’re outsourcing *judgment shortcuts*. Humans still sign off, but we’re getting lazier about questioning the output.”

Just use it to find information more efficiently. Were you outsourcing thinking to a search engine? Not really it's more like memory and patience.

as a last ditch attempt to try to salvage some of what I lost. recently my computers hard drive was pretty screwed, mainly since I was trying to do some driver stuff. as a result, it corrupted and all data is lost on it. so my tripcode, gem pass, password to the schlog, etc, are all gone, lost to time. though I have been able to get some of my account back, mainly cause I had recovery stuff enabled for them. all I am simply asking for is a Wii nand to use for dolphin whenever I am able to fix my computer, it is all i ask for and is really the only thing that isn't possible for me to get back, I could make it up to you if you can

If you really don't want to use the Terminal, then you're better off with the pirated gold edition. Use Lutris. It comes with a version of Wine with DXVK installed. Not much different from Proton. You can easily run an exe from a GUI
