So… for that guy who recommended I watch Clannad on the soyboy woahjaque board around mid-July (if you're still here), I finally got around to watching it after finishing Galaxy Express 999, finishing the original Clannad season in 3 days.
<Too long; didn't read: I didn't like it.
<Not long enough; did read: If I was watching this show on my own out of curiosity instead of intending to make a very needed serious post on this board, I would've dropped it midway through episode 2. The first few episodes felt like I was having a seizure from the sheer amount of things happening so quickly, finding myself having to grit my teeth through the eyesore that is the cringey animation of newer animes. Which came as a surprise to me as the Clannad anime came out in 2007 while exhibiting a lot of traits that made me VEHEMENTLY hate animes that came out in the 2010s and later as a kid (and still now): over-the-top reactions, voice overacting (i.e. characters screaming every 5 seconds or sounding like they're having sex with constant sighing, gasping, and unnecessary audible breathing), flashy and ridiculous scenes/moments that come out of the blue, ecchi/fanservice scenes (it's not that bad but its mere presence is brimstone), and the unfunny humor (if any at all). If the guy who recommended this show to me is reading this, the reason why I asked when the series came out is to see if I could dismiss the entire thing as generic 2010s moeslop or not. Even if it wasn't made in the 2010s, I do consider it sloppy.
<The scenes about the girl living in a dead world by herself was the biggest nothing burger of the show. I was hoping it would explain why Fuko is a ghost that only some characters could see and why her being forgotten makes people unable to see her or something, but instead it was only the play that Nagisa wanted to perform at the end of the show. I don't have much of an opinion on most of the characters but I do like Tomoyo and Kotomi, I thought they were cool. Kyou was pretty annoying and it felt like she was supposed to be in a similar vein as Tomo Takino from Azumanga Daioh except she wasn't funny in the slightest and is more cruel. In episode 2, she almost ran over Tomoya with her bike and did not give a single fuck, this gag happens again in a later episode but Tomoya is actually hit and she still did not give a fuck (ev&doe das
