fighting something does not mean improving it
if we, the consumers, would just behave like we wanted to
we would either improve it or consume mindlessly
the critics themselves, and a large part of the community/players, dont want the game. however, it is "unacceptable" nowadays to call or even think of the descruction of a bad thing. so, criticism, is just the current very widely still available form of harming/fighting something bad! The context is, that people are generally unable to improve it anyways, and that usually, even hateful comments, as long as they are natural, are not wrong, but the way to something against the developer.
nowadays we barely ever have hostility or death threats.
imagine if a bad dev/ovner with a bad story of doing things would get punished for it? thats good
