>>203836Well, I never really said he was not great or incompetent. I think he is just overrated. Overrated as some insanely powerful king who changed history. Sure, he was competent, but I wouldn't call him remarkable, as in how he affected history.
I think it's better to talk about a nation like Ethiopia, which is an ancient Christian nation, for African history o algo.
>>203868>I heard that most of the Mongolians from modern Mongolia are Khalkhas, and they were a pretty peaceful group. The khalkha/Buryats, etc, are modern divides, when compared to the warring past of the 13th century and the bigger ancient timeline of the steppe nomads. Even in "The Secret History of the Mongols" book, which was written in the Mongol Empire, the Buryats were referred to as the "Forest people". So I would say all Mongols were warriors.
But if you are looking at the modern situation, yes, Khalkhas sold the country to the Qing dynasty, their minor lords got bribed by the Manchus into joining the dynasty as an "autonomous" entity. As compared to the other tribes resisting the Qing Dynasty, you are kinda right.
